How HAVSPRO works

HAVS Monitoring in Action

Regular use of vibrating equipment can expose operators to vibration, making it important for organisations to understand and manage vibration exposure.

HAVSPRO is designed to support this approach. So, how does it work?

  • Each operator is assigned a HAVSPRO sensor programmed with their user details.
  • Each vibrating tool is fitted with a HAVSPRO holster and pre-programmed with that devices ID details and whether it is monitoring hand arm vibration (HAV) or whole body vibration (WBV).
  • The operator clicks their sensor into the holster on the tool being used and automatically records vibration data as the tool is used – just click and go!
  • The operator removes the sensor when they’ve finished using that device and clicks it onto the holster of the next tool used or vehicle if being used to monitor WBV.
  • Throughout the day, exposure data associated with the operator is transmitted from the sensor to a beacon then transmitted via roaming mobile data to the HAVSPRO Insights reporting platform.
  • If the operator reaches their Exposure Action Value (EAV) a light on the sensor flashes amber. A text and email alert can also be sent to selected recipients.
  • If the operator approaches 90% of their Exposure Limit Value (ELV), the light on the sensor flashes amber and red. When the operator reaches 100% of their ELV. the light on the sensor will flash red. Both thresholds can trigger text and email alerts to selected recipients.
  • At the end of the day HAVSPRO sensors can be stored ready for the next shift – no need for overnight charging.

HAVSPRO Insights: Supporting Vibration Risk Management

HAVSPRO Insights is a bespoke dashboard designed to provide easy-access information at a glance.

The HAVSPRO Insights dashboard is fully customisable to allow operators, supervisors and managers the option to see the data that is valuable to them.

The reporting dashboard allows business to:

  • monitor and view daily vibration exposure data by operator
  • use exposure data and alerts to support risk assessments
  • identify trends and changes
  • use tool-use data to support tool rotation and maintenance decisions
  • support tool and resource planning
  • receive text and email alerts when configured EAV and ELV thresholds are reached

Sensor

Each operator is given their own matchbox-sized HAVSPRO sensor, which captures vibration data during tool use and builds an individual exposure record. A light on the sensor flashes amber when the operator reaches their Exposure Action Value (EAV), amber and red at 90% of their Exposure Limit Value (ELV), and red when the ELV is reached.

Tool

Each vibrating tool is pre-fitted with a small HAVSPRO holster. The operator clicks their sensor into the holster, allowing vibration data to be captured while the tool is in use. When the task is complete, the sensor is removed and taken to the next tool.

Beacon

Accumulated operator exposure data from each sensor is transmitted to a nearby beacon via short-range wireless communication (RF), then securely transferred to the HAVSPRO Insights cloud-based reporting platform.

Cloud-based reporting

Vibration and exposure data from multiple operators is brought together within the HAVSPRO Insights reporting platform. This information can support risk assessment and review, workforce and resource planning, tool-use decisions and the identification of training needs.
